Lakewood/
East Dallas/
Lake Highlands Estates
Suburban in feel but not far from the city’s center, the East Dallas / Lakewood area is bordered by White Rock Lake, a benefit that nature-loving locals take great delight in. Take your pick from new estates with considerable acreage, or cozier bungalows that date back to the 20s and 30s.
East Dallas has always been prized for its walkability thanks to the city’s numerous hiking, biking, and walking trails. The Mockingbird Pedestrian Bridge, which connects the Katy Trail to Ridgewood Trail, allows cyclists and runners to travel from White Rock Lake to Victory Plaza by trail. The area is a recreational, cultural, and architectural hot-spot in the DFW Metroplex.
Built up during a housing boom in the 60s and 70s, this sprawling northeast Dallas neighborhood is quite straightforwardly named for both its proximity to White Rock Lake and elevated topography.
